Well, I have some exciting news!! I didn't kill all of my vegetable starts!
For anyone that knows me, I've always had a difficult time caring for plants. I have always joked that I have a "black thumb" in that I usually end up killing off my plants... :/
But as spring approached, I told myself that if I am capable of keeping a tiny human alive, I could keep some plants alive. And so, from seeds in egg cartons on the kitchen counter, to planters in the front yard, I have vegetables!!
I have spinach, tomatoes (plus more from my Mother-in-Law), bell peppers, carrots (which I have no idea how those'll turn out in a container...), cilantro, parsley, basil, zucchini, and beans!
I also have some flowers that have stayed alive too, so that's been a bonus. :)
I mean, obviously all the vegetables aren't ready to eat yet. But I have been able to make multiple spinach salads and use cilantro and parsley in dinners! Pretty exciting for this new gardener! There is something so exciting about seeing and enjoying the fruits - or in this case, vegetables - of my labor!
Also, I am doing a container garden. I did a blog post on it here. My starts almost all successfully transferred. I did have a few casualties. The process of hardening the plants was definitely the most time consuming portion of all of this, but it is so worth it for the beautiful fresh goodness to come!
Here are some photos of the process!
I'd love to hear if you are doing a garden, if you've ever done a container garden, what you enjoy from a garden, etc.!
