You know what I love?
Fall.
I LOVE fall! I love crisp weather. I love the rain. I love the changing colors. I love the pumpkin spice everything. I love cider. I love snuggling up in way too many blankets. And the list goes on!
Lucky for me, I live in the Pacific Northwest where fall and winter typically make up 9 months of the year. Haha, might be a slight exaggeration, but man. I love me some Oregon rain.
I feel like fall is the time of year that so many things go to sleep. Flowers, trees, bears. But we shouldn't. Of course, rest is important, but although some of the business of life may slow or stop, it does not mean that personal growth and development should halt. Although the weather may change, our heart should stay burning for Jesus. We can never have enough of Him!
Which brings me to the Harvest. Another thing that happens in the fall! To harvest means to gather. Matthew 9:37-38 says:
"Then He said to His disciples, 'The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.'"
We are His workers. We are called to go out and work His fields. We are called to share the gospel with those around us. We are to shine Jesus in this world. Finding opportunities to serve, support, listen, and pray for those around us is a great first step.
In order to be sure we are able to be feeding those around us, we need to be sure we are feeding our souls with Jesus. Without receiving from Him, we are only able to give so much. So lets make sure we are feeding ourselves!
One resource I have been reading after my Bible time is called Cold Tangerines by Shauna Niequist. I will leave you with this quote from the book:
"You are more than dust and bones
You are spirit and power and image of God
And you have been given Today."
Blessings to you all.
When I read this I am reminded of the Song by Lauren Dangle Come Alive (Dry Bones) ... good reminder :)
